Kids & Parents

We meet kids where they are at.

We work with school-aged kids, teens, and the parents who care about them. Whether you're noticing something early on, your child is struggling at school, or you're looking for support in your own parenting journey, we're here to help the whole family.

Common reasons parents reach out

Parents often reach out when something feels off at home, at kinder, or at school. These are some of the most common reasons:

  • Learning difficulties
  • Behavioural concerns
  • Developmental delays
  • Autism and ADHD assessment
  • Giftedness
  • Social difficulties
  • Selective mutism
  • School refusal
  • Anxiety

How we work with kids

For younger children, we use play-based and developmentally sensitive approaches that meet kids where they are at. Sessions are tailored to the child's age and needs, using activities they feel comfortable with.

We involve parents when it helps, whether that's regular check-ins, shared strategies, or separate conversations, so you're never left guessing how to support your child day to day.

Sessions can happen in the room at our Park Orchards clinic or via telehealth.

How we work with teens

Therapy belongs to the young person. We build trust, go at their pace, and respect their growing independence. Parents often make the first call, and that's completely normal. Some teens connect better through walk-and-talk sessions when that's a good clinical fit.

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Self-esteem
  • School pressure and school refusal
  • Identity and who they're becoming
  • Neurodiversity (ADHD and autism)
  • Family conflict
  • Anger and emotional regulation
  • Body image and mild eating disorders
  • Trauma
  • Sports performance
  • Sleep difficulties
  • OCD

Support for parents

Parenting can be overwhelming, especially when your child is going through a tough time. We offer support for parents too, whether that's helping you understand a diagnosis, manage challenging behaviour, or feel more confident in your approach.

We also run group programs for parents, including Tuning into Kids, an evidence-based program that helps parents understand and manage their children's emotions.
